Buying a crib for the first time can be a daunting task; there are endless options on the market for so many different aesthetics, tastes, and price ranges. The choice of a crib is dependent on you, what you like, and how much you’re willing to spend. It’s important to read reviews and watch some on YouTube, too. But I’m here to give you an organized list of what is most important and what might be a little over the top.
The first thing you need to look at is your price range. How much are you willing to spend? The cheapest crib that I found to be halfway decent was at $129.98 on Wayfair, and it also was a convertible crib which makes it that much more amazing. I would be weary on spending thousands of dollars on a crib due to it not lasting very long, but again, up to your budget.
Which leads us to the types of cribs on the market.
You have the standard crib. These cribs do nothing other than serve a place to sleep for your baby; they’re reliable for a short time but not a long time. There is the bassinet, more compact and even portable in some cases; these are mainly used when you want to move the baby’s sleeping area to different places depending on your routine. There’s also the convertible crib; this crib grows with your baby, some go from crib to toddler bed, and others go from crib to toddler to twin size bed. This crib, in my opinion, is the most convenient of them all.
Now you have to focus on your taste. Is your nursery a theme? Are we going for a chic nursery, a minimal nursery, a metallic, solid colors? It all depends on you and your various Pinterest boards. My favorite brands or places to find amazingly cute cribs are wayfair.com, incyinteriors.com, or potterybarn.com. There are tons of online and physical stores that have so many creative ranges of cribs, so you can never have too many options.
Your baby’s crib is all on you and what you like as long as you follow these three essential steps: having an acceptable price range for yourself, the type of crib you want, and what style you want. Happy crib shopping!
